| Abstract: Managing a dynamic and developing dentition is one of the most fascinating challenge of pediatric dentistry. Primary teeth play a key role providing both function and esthetics, while maintaining arch length and space for permanent successors. Early loss of primary teeth can result in unwanted displacement of permanent teeth, causing malocclusion. Different types of space maintainers are available for the evolving dentition to prevent occlusal issues. It is a crucial goal of the pediatric dentist to guide the replacement of deciduous teeth with permanent ones for a correct development of jaws and occlusion, and for the overall well-being of pediatric patients. |
