PROF. VARINDER GOYAL

BIOGRAPHY

With over three decades dedicated to Pediatric Dentistry, I have had the privilege of serving as a clinician, academician, researcher, and mentor. My passion for advancing children’s oral health and fostering global collaboration now inspires me to seek the honour of serving as President, International Association of Paediatric Dentistry.

I began my academic journey in Punjab, India, earning a Master’s in Pediatric Dentistry, where I received distinctions for my dedication and perseverance. Expanding my global perspective, I earned membership in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, and was recently awarded a fellowship by the RCPS—milestones that shaped my international outlook.

With over 28 years in academia, I currently serve as Dean of PG Studies and Head of Pediatric Dentistry at a leading university in Punjab. Mentoring postgraduate students has been one of my most fulfilling responsibilities; guiding young professionals is a role I deeply cherish.

My commitment to collaboration led me to serve as President of ISPPD and as the founding President of the SAPPD. I am a board member of the PDAA and currently the Secretary of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, actively working with peers to enhance children’s oral health across India.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I contributed to the IAPD’s Education Committee, helping organize its first webinars on “COVID-19 and Pediatric Dentistry.” Later, as Chair of the Education Committee, I continued to lead global webinars, sharing advancements and research in pediatric dentistry to promote continuous learning and global knowledge exchange.

Now serving on the IAPD BOD, I remain committed to our mission of being the global voice for children’s oral health. If elected President, I aim to strengthen IAPD’s role in advancing research and position it as a global authority in standardizing pediatric dental education. I envision expanding IAPD’s reach by increasing national member societies to over 80, launching faculty development programs worldwide, and conducting an individual membership drive. I also plan to promote interprofessional collaboration with pediatricians, nurses, orthodontists, and those caring for children with special healthcare needs.

Pediatric dentistry is not just a specialty—it is a calling. It truly takes a lot to treat the little. With your support, I look forward to leading IAPD into its next chapter of global impact.
