Dr. Luis Karakowsky was born in Monterrey, Mexico. He is married to Carolina Flegman and has three daughters Ita, Nicole and Aggie. He is the grandfather of 6 grandchildren. He studied in Colegio Israelita de Monterrey until 9th grade. His High School was done in Universidad de Monterrey. He obtained his D.D.S. degree at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon. At the University of Pittsburgh obtained his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry as well as his Master of Science. He started his Private Practice limited to Pediatric Dentistry in Mexico City where he owns 2 offices with different specialties. SInce its arrival from his Graduate Studies he started to work in different Associations where he participated in many committees. At the Mexican Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AMOP) he became Secretary, Vice President and President and just recently President of the Executive Committee (former presidents). At the Mexican Association of Dentistry (ADM) he actively participated as Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of the Exterior, Scientific Commission and Chair of 2 National Congresses. He was a part time profesor at the Graduate Pediatric Dentistry Program at the Universidad Tecnologica de Mexico (UNITEC) in Clinic and teach the subjects Pulp Therapy, Dental Materials, Restorative Dentistry. He became the Program Chair at this Graduate Program for 11 years. After the IAPD Meeting in Cancun where he participated in the Organizing Committee he started to work in different Committees like Membership Committee for 4 years, Chair Financial Committe for 2 years and became a member of the Board in Cape Town chairing the Education Committee. He enjoys giving lectures so he is actively involved in seminars, congresses, diplomates and courses related to Pediatric Dentistry in topics like Dental Materials, Prevention, Restaorative Dentistry, Pulp Therapy, Minimally Invasive Dentistry, Esthetic Dentistry.
